across to the Western Shore, landing finally on Māʻili Point Beach Park as the sun was nearing the ocean horizon. I don’t think I appreciated, until we plugged the directions in to Google Maps, just how small the island of Oahu is!

The swimming wasn’t great, with seaweed-covered long lava rocks just beneath the surface right behind the water line, but it was a beautiful place to sit and watch the sun sink beneath the sea.
