Oregon Coast at Seal Beach

This week finds us at a family vacation on the Oregon Coast, where the sea view also came with some new birds I haven’t seen before:

And that was just from the back porch!

Seal Rock Beach

The kids wanted to check out tide pools, and their mom was hoping to find agates, so we went a smidge up the coast to Seal Rock Beach for the afternoon.

It threatened to rain all day, but never did, and the tide was just right for finding all kinds of fun things.

anemones, starfish, mussels, barnacles
gulls and crows
harbor seals

And I learned about a new tidepool denizen:

sculpin

It was a lovely day at the beach.

… and on my way back up the cliff, I spotted this

great blue heron
